Oil palm trees are vital for the carbon cycle as they absorb CO₂ through photosynthesis. The harvest products, Palm Kernel Shell (PKS) and Palm Kernel Expeller (PKE), are used sustainably. PKS serves as fuel for biomass power, generating CO₂ emissions, while PKE is turned into animal feed, which doesn’t directly produce CO₂, but livestock still emit greenhouse gases. The CO₂ released is absorbed back by oil palms, maintaining a balanced carbon cycle and supporting the sustainability of the palm oil industry.
